Various forms of civic education and democratic renovation could be part of the solution. General education with an emphasis on power perspectives and critical systems thinking around economics and political power would be needed, as well as analysis of which fundamental values ​​should be highlighted as a common basis on which to build the social system. The UN Declaration of Human Rights is a good starting point. If we can reach out with this type of general education and at the same time create new, more directly democratic forums and institutions, perhaps it can become a powerful factor that reverses the destructive development and leads us onto a sensible and sustainable path that benefits the majority of the population and the planet.
